Warm home discount scheme

Find out if you are eligible for £150 off your electricity bill as part of the UK Government’s Warm Home Discount Scheme.

Cost of Living Payments 2023 to 2024

You may be able to get up to 5 payments to help with the cost of living if you’re getting certain benefits or tax credits.

You do not need to apply. If you’re eligible, you’ll be paid automatically in the same way you usually get your benefit or tax credits.

Winter fuel payment

If you were born before 25 September 1957, you could get between £250 and £600 to help you pay your heating bills. Check how much Winter Fuel Payment you can get from the UK Government.

Cold weather payments

If you receive Pension Credit, Income Support, income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance, income-related Employment and Support Allowance or Universal Credit you will automatically receive a one-off Cold Weather Payment each time it gets very cold.

Alternative fuels (oil, LPG or solid fuel) for heating

If your home uses alternative fuel for most of your heating, such as liquid petroleum gas (LPG), heating oil or solid fuel, you may be entitled to a £200 Alternative Fuels Payment. This is in addition to the £400 Energy Bills Support Scheme from your electricity supplier (if you have one).

  1. You may have already received this payment through your electricity provider, in which case you will not receive it again.
  2. If you have not received it: apply for a payment to help pay for alternative fuels.

Energy Bills Support Scheme Alternative Fund (EBSSAF)

If you did not automatically receive a £400 Energy Bills Support Scheme payment (spread over 6 months of credits on your energy supplier’s bills).

Wales fuel support scheme

Now closed.

Discretionary assistance fund (DAF)

In certain circumstances you may be eligible for an Emergency Assistance Payment (EAP) or Individual Assistance Payment (IAP). Find out if you could receive a grant from the Discretionary Assistance Fund (DAF).
